Move-in (and move-out) checklist

Meter photos, paint codes, and the condition record that protects your deposit.

• Photograph every room + meter readings
• Locate: water shutoff, breaker panel, furnace filter size
• Test: smoke/CO alarms, all outlets, faucets
• Paint codes + flooring types noted
• Change locks where allowed; label mailbox
• File the condition report — dated
